Scamp

This is a record of the development of my robot Scamp. Probably like a lot of other people, the idea to build a robot has been in my dreams for a very long time, and I have just dug out the Maplin Electronics magazine and Robot Builder's Bonanza book I purchased in 1990. I have also found the SP0256 chips I bought around the same time, as Scamp needs to make the right noises ! Retirement now gives me time to acheive the dream.

Scamp is intended to be an autonomous roving robot, that will be capable of mapping out the environment it is in. This in itself will take a while to acheive, but further objectives will be added in the future.

The control of all the hardware will be via Arduino based processors, whilst the overall control will be performed by a Raspberry Pi. They will all talk to each other on an I2C bus.

The Raspberry Pi will be equiped with wifi, so that it can communicate with a Server based command centre and the outside world via an on board web server.

All web page entries on this site will be date stamped, so that a good progress timeline can be seen. The project started proper, with the Rover 5 as a Christmas present in Dec 2012. But, progress is slow as I have too many competing projects.

This web site has been designed to be simple, with no attempt to make it 'responsive'. It is purely a recepticle for all my ideas and information I have gathered together to build my robot Scamp.

There will be a 'Control Centre' web suite built for interaction with Scamp. This will be based on the Bootstrap responsive framework.
