Chassis
28 Dec 2012 - I am using a Dagu Rover 5 with 4 motors, and will initially stick with the tracks as supplied, even though some people report that they come off. OddBot, who comments at Lets Make Robots (LMR) and who I think designed the Rover 5, has explained that this tends to be when the Rover is heavily laden. If there is a problem with the tracks, I will look at using the Wild Thumper wheels.
As supplied the tracks were on the chassis and the wheels did look slightly out of line. There were suggestions at LMR,
to remove the tracks and see if the main plastic structure turned straight again. As it will take quite a while for me
to get the electronics / battery mounting sorted, I will see what happens.
I intend to re-inforce the plastic centre structure with two 10mm alloy angle pieces mounted longitudinally along the top edge. The upper structure will be mounted on polycarb and hinged on the alloy angle to enable easy access to the internally mounted batteries.
